Earlier this year there was a lot of buzz over the rumour that Liz Hurley and Shane Warne were engaged - rumours that they initially denied.
But it has recently been confirmed by the spin king himself that the ring recently seen on Hurley's hand is his - and that they are officially engaged.
In a short announcement on micro-blogging platform Twitter, Warne thanked his fans for their warm wishes and supportive messages at the happy news.
Warne tweeted: "Thanks so much again for all your kind messages, they mean a lot.. EH & I very happy and have had a beautiful lazy day today. (sic)"
There were conflicting reports over how the engagement came to be, with some parties saying that the former Australian spin-bowler popped the question in front of stunned restaurant patrons - a claim that he denies.
"I didn't propose in front of 200 people at dinner. It was done privately and was very romantic - if I say so myself Ps left knee is sore !!!" he wrote.
The couple were recently photographed at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship pro-am event held at the historic St Andrews course in Scotland.
Pictures show that the ring worn by Hurley displays a brilliant-cut large sapphire with two diamonds on either side and is estimated to have cost Warne upwards of $80,000.
Reports first surfaced of a potential romance between the two celebrities after they met at Britain's Goodwood races in July 2010, with photos surfacing of them together late in December the same year.
When they first met each other, Hurley was separated from her now-ex husband - textile businessman Arun Nayar - and Warne was divorced from his wife Simone Callahan, with whom he shares child custody for their three offspring.
Hurley also has a child from a previous relationship with famous entrepreneur Steve Bing and was previously known to be the long-term girlfriend of fellow British actor Hugh Grant.
Travel is now on the cards for the happy couple, with Warne planning on taking his fiancee to visit his family in Melbourne later this year.
Liz Hurley was recently photographed in New York after a filming session for the TV show Gossip Girl and reportedly took Warne for a short tour of the city.
It is not yet known if the happy couple have put a prenuptial agreement in place - an activity best undertaken with the help of a family lawyer.
