Gillian Wright has worked in the field of family law, de facto relationships, and general litigation since being admitted to practise law in 1982. She has worked predominantly in the field of family law for the past 20 years and is an Accredited Specialist in Family Law (NSW Law Society).
Gillian joined Craddock Murray Neumann in 2006 and since then has been responsible for running the firm’s busy family law practice.
Over the years, Gillian has gained experience across a broad range of legal fields, including matters under the Family Provision Act, Probate, wills and estates, superannuation, insolvency, negligence, trade practices etc. She is also admitted to practise as a solicitor/barrister in the Supreme Court (ACT). This breadth of experience enables her to identify all of the issues that can arise in a complex family law case.
Gillian has conducted a large number of matters in the Family Court and Federal Courts of Australia, the Supreme and District Courts and in mediations and arbitrations. She has vast experience in the full range of Family Law matters, from property and spouse support cases, “pre nuptial” agreements, complex financial arrangements, matters involving children, de facto relationships etc. She has also undertaken training in collaborative family law, a relatively new approach to separation and divorce in Australia that avoids the need for couples to attend Court.
As a senior and highly qualified practitioner, Gillian has the respect of her peers which assists in resolving matters outside the litigation process – and she believes in resolving disputes by negotiation wherever possible.
Gillian is approachable and caring, and can be most persuasive, a skill essential to looking after the legal interests of her clients.
Gillian is a member of the Family Law Section of the Law Council of Australia and the Women Lawyers' Association of NSW Inc. She has presented papers on various family law subjects including the assistance of litigants suffering from mental incapacity, papers on procedural issues and a paper on technical issues in property settlements.
