Paul Boers was initially admitted to practice as a solicitor in Queensland in 1990, and relocated to Sydney in 1992. He has worked exclusively in the area of Family Law since 1995 and became an Accredited Specialist in Family Law with NSW Law Society in 1999.
Paul joined Craddock Murray Neumann in 2009 as a Senior Associate in the firm’s Family Law Practice.
Since his admission Paul has gained a broad range of skills and expertise in family law, having practised in the private legal profession as well as working for the Legal Aid Commission of NSW, and as a Deputy Registrar of the Family Court of Australia. In addition, Paul has volunteered with the Inner City Legal Centre at Kings Cross for more than 10 years, and has served as a Director on its Board of Directors since 2007.
Paul has significant experience in negotiating complex financial agreements, including property settlements with companies and trusts and spousal support issues. His expertise in financial matters enables him to form a realistic view of the likely outcome early in a case and help his clients to achieve the best possible solution, quickly and effectively.
Over the years Paul has handled numerous cases for both married and de-facto couples, and has undertaken many contested parenting matters. His work at the Inner City Legal Centre has also allowed him to develop an uncommon expertise in cases that involve complex parenting issues such as surrogacy arrangements, artificial conception and same sex parenting.
Paul’s approach to family law matters is resolution focused, practical and sensible. He is an accredited mediator and collaborative law professional who can apply his negotiating skills to resolve matters promptly and successfully. However, his background as a Registrar of the Family Court, and understanding of the Court processes, means that when necessary his approach to litigation is thorough and forceful, yet realistic.
Given his prominent profile within the family law profession in Sydney, Paul has regularly written and presented papers to lawyers at seminars on behalf of Continuing Legal Education service providers, and at public/community legal education forums.
