Vanessa Downing was admitted as a solicitor in 2006. She has worked with Craddock Murray Neumann on a part-time basis since early 2006 when she joined the firm as a law student in order to gain practical experience.
Since her admission, Vanessa has been responsible for handling many of the firm’s matters that fall under the Immigration Application Advice Assistance Scheme (IAAAS), a Federal Government scheme that involves assisting international refugees with their applications for visas to stay in Australia.
Vanessa works with the other members of the immigration law team to deliver assistance to clients who may not otherwise be in a position to appoint legal representation. She is dedicated to assisting clients wherever possible, and to understanding their individual situation, circumstances and cultural background. Working extensively in refugee and general immigration law, Vanessa has established a sound knowledge of the political situations of the countries from which our clients have originated. Vanessa also works closely with experienced community interpreters to develop a detailed understanding of our clients’ cases which enables her to present their visa applications persuasively both to the Department of Immigration, the Immigration Review Tribunal and the Refugee Review Tribunal.
In addition to her role with Craddock Murray Neumann, Vanessa is continuing with a successful acting career that involves both theatre and television work.
